My mind is a clock, Each passing tick seems like it would be just a second, But for me each passing tick is another tally mark left upon my skin, You see to me time is not a friend but an enemy, With each minute that passes millions of thoughts flood my head, And for you it probably sounds like a good thing, But to me those thoughts are going to be the reason why I die one day, Because thoughts like these don't belong in a dream, They belong in a nightmare, And I am the nightmare, Because when the clock ticks, I create the gore on my skin, And when the thoughts flood in, I create the monsters in my head, Because I am the nightmare, I am the nightmare that I can't get away from, My body tries to warn me to stop what I am doing, But by the time a minute has past, It is to late, I am already lying on the ground as a bloody scene plays around my body, Only then do they rush in asking me to wake up, Only then do they realize that I was never awake to begin with, Only then do they realize by the scars on my flesh that I am a nightmare, And as they look at my torn flesh, They over look the mangled bones beneath it that are poking out as if they are trying to escape my body, But if I were them I would try to escape to, Yet I can't because I am a nightmare, I am a nightmare that tares open the bodies flesh to numb the outside, I am a nightmare that crunches the bones to numb the inside, And lastly I am the nightmare that wraps a rope around the body to numb it all, You see because with each tick of the clock a new nightmare erupts over my body, With each tick another dream is lost, And with each tick, I am another tally closer to death than I was a second ago, Because when we become a nightmare, It isn't because we were to broken to be a dream, It is because we weren't strong enough to be ourselves.
