A Girl

There's a girl,
There is a girl I know who is not just a girl,
But an artist,
At night she deals with depression by carving a masterpiece out of her own flesh,
As if she is an artist carving a sculpture out of clay,
The only difference between the clay and her skin,
Is that clay can't bleed out,
There's a girl,
There's a girl I know who is not just a girl,
But a warrior,
At dawn she battles anxiety by plugging in her earbuds to drown out the noise in her head,
But as the music gets louder she starts to realize,
That the only thing she's drowning out,
Is herself,
There's a girl,
There is a girl who is not just a girl,
But a therapist,
By morning she's helping her suicidal friends see that there is more to life than death,
As if she believes the words she's saying,
If only they knew she was saying,
Help,
There's a girl,
Who is not a girl but a boy trapped in womens clothing,
At every hour he tries to hide his emotions and gender with long sleeves and dark clothing,
And it's not until I go home that I realize,
The artist,
The warrior,
The therapist,
And the boy,
Is me.
